Ten Shot at Oklahoma Lake Party, Suspects Still at Large
A shooting at a lakeside gathering near Edmond, Oklahoma left at least 10 people hospitalized Sunday evening, with no arrests made.
A shooting erupted at a lakeside party near Arcadia Lake in eastern Edmond, roughly 13 miles north of Oklahoma City, around 9 p.m. Sunday, leaving at least 10 people injured.
Edmond police spokesperson Emily Ward confirmed the incident occurred at a gathering of young people and that victims were transported to hospitals in varying conditions. Some attendees drove themselves for medical treatment. Authorities have not apprehended any suspects, though they’ve stated there’s no ongoing public threat.
“This is obviously a very terrifying situation and we understand the concern from the public and those involved and we are working extremely hard to find the suspects,” Ward said.
The total victim count remains fluid. Nine patients arrived at Integris Health Baptist Medical Center in Oklahoma City, while three others went to Integris Health Edmond Hospital. Hospital staff continued assessing patients into Sunday night.
Local media indicated the gathering may have been promoted as “Sunday Funday” based on a social media flyer advertising the event at the lake. Arcadia Lake serves as a popular destination for fishing, picnics, and camping.
Edmond police established a reunification center at a nearby Walmart for families seeking information about those involved. The investigation appears ongoing, with authorities actively pursuing leads on the shooting’s perpetrators.
The incident adds to a continuing pattern of gun violence in the United States. Police have not yet released details about what prompted the shooting or provided descriptions of potential suspects.
