Congress Just Demanded Marco Rubio Reveal Israel's Secret Nuclear Arsenal
30 Democrats are breaking decades of silence, demanding the State Department finally come clean about Israel's nuclear weapons-and the timing is EXPLOSIVE
The gloves are off in Washington.
Thirty Democratic lawmakers just sent a bombshell letter to Secretary of State Marco Rubio demanding he stop the decades-long cover-up and reveal exactly what nuclear weapons Israel possesses. And they’re not mincing words about why.
The pressure campaign, dated May 4, comes as the US-Israel war against Iran heats up-making the nuclear question impossible to ignore anymore. The letter is blunt: Congress has a “constitutional responsibility” to know about the nuclear balance in the Middle East, and right now, they’re flying blind.
“We do not believe we have received that information,” the lawmakers stated flatly.
Here’s what they’re demanding from Rubio. They want specifics on Israel’s nuclear warheads, launchers, and enrichment capabilities. They’re specifically targeting the Negev Nuclear Research Center in Dimona-long understood to be ground zero of Israel’s nuclear program. And they’re asking point-blank: Has Israel promised the US it won’t use nukes? Have there been any signs Israel is planning nuclear deployment against Iran?
The Nuclear Threat Initiative estimates Israel has 90 nuclear warheads, 750 to 1,110kg of plutonium, six nuclear-capable submarines, and missiles that can strike targets 3,000 to 4,000 miles away. But Israel has never officially admitted any of this exists.
This is unprecedented congressional pressure. Yes, individual lawmakers have raised the issue before, but a coordinated 30-person push for transparency? That’s new.
The timing is savage. Trump’s administration is pushing hard to prevent Iran from developing nuclear weapons-using it as leverage in war negotiations. Meanwhile, Israel gets a complete free pass to sit on one of the world’s largest nuclear arsenals without anyone asking tough questions.
“Members of Congress are right to question why Israel’s development of nuclear weapons gets a free pass while we’re trying to prevent Iran from acquiring them,” said Josh Reubner, policy director for the Institute for Middle East Understanding Policy Project.
The letter also references decades of evidence: CIA assessments from 1968, a famous whistleblower leak in 1986, even testimony from former Defense Secretary Robert Gates confirming Israel as a nuclear power.
What’s shocking isn’t that Israel has nukes-everyone knows it. What’s shocking is Congress finally demanding the US government stop pretending it doesn’t.
