Dolly Parton Cancels Las Vegas Residency to Deal With Kidney Stones
The 80-year-old country legend has postponed her Caesars Palace run indefinitely, citing ongoing health challenges that require additional recovery time.
Dolly Parton has pulled the plug on her planned Las Vegas residency, announcing the cancellation in a video statement posted to social media. The 80-year-old country music icon had been scheduled to perform six shows at The Colosseum Theatre at Caesars Palace, originally slated for December 2025 before being pushed to September 2026.
Parton attributes the decision to ongoing treatment for kidney stones and related health issues. She says she’s “responding really well to meds and treatments” and “improving every day,” but needs additional time before she’s ready to tackle the physical demands of a full residency.
“I’ve still got some healing to do, but I am on my way,” Parton said in the video announcement.
The star didn’t shy away from the practical realities of her situation. In her characteristically self-aware fashion, Parton joked about the impossibility of performing in her signature style while still healing. “I can’t be dizzy carrying around banjos, guitars and such on 5-inch heels,” she quipped, before adding that the heavy rhinestone costumes, elaborate hair, and general stage demands would require her to be in peak physical condition.
Despite the Vegas setback, Parton remains busy with other projects. She’s continuing to record music, shoot videos, and expand her Dollywood theme park operations. She’s also working on a Broadway musical adaptation and plans to open a new museum and hotel in Nashville later this year.
This would have marked Parton’s first Las Vegas Strip residency since the 1990s, when she performed alongside her “Islands In The Stream” duet partner Kenny Rogers. The Grammy-winning, Rock & Roll Hall of Fame-inducted artist had planned to perform her catalog of crossover hits, including “Coat of Many Colors,” “I Will Always Love You,” “9 To 5,” and “Jolene.”
Parton apologized to ticket holders and suggested they enjoy Las Vegas without her for now, promising to see fans “somewhere down the line.”
